Keynote Speaker To Give Personal Account of Breaking Small Business Barrier at H&K Consulting July 11 Seminar

McLean, Virginia (July 8, 2002) - Holland & Knight Consulting, the business-to-business management solutions provider for emerging, growth and technology companies, today announced that keynote speaker, Rodney P. Hunt, President and CEO of RS Information Systems, Inc. (RSIS), will outline his first-hand experiences in "Breaking Through the ‘Small Business' Barrier," during the breakfast seminar on July 11. Mr. Hunt will share his successes in growing his company from a small 8(a) firm when founded in 1992, to a mid-sized government contractor with 2001 annual revenues of $140 million.

"RSIS has successfully overcome small business barriers, in part, by using the People, Process and Technology (PPT) approach that we subscribe to. This investment has allowed RSIS to become a competitive and viable business enterprise, while institutionalizing RSIS as a strong, stable, and best-value solution in the professional services marketplace," explained RSIS President and CEO, Rodney Hunt.

"Small and minority-owned businesses must be prepared to consider all options available to them. This may mean positioning yourself for acquisition, strategic partnership, technology infusion, process improvement, corporate marketing and/or management change," continued Mr. Hunt. "The only way to do this is to understand your core competencies, the marketplace, your competition, the demographics, your staff capabilities and your customers' needs."

Mr. Hunt's experience clearly illustrates Holland & Knight Consulting's Six Steps for Breaking the "Small Business" Barrier:

  • Build Business Development Process
  • Research and Analyze Market and Competition
  • Upgrade Infrastructure to Support Growth
  • Create Effective Program Management System
  • Consider Beneficial Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Accommodate Change in Culture and Image

Background: The seminar also includes Linda Allan, Executive Vice President of Strategic Programs at NCI Information Systems, Inc., who will address how she improved NCI's Business Development Process; Jim Kane, President and CEO of Federal Sources, Inc., who will demonstrate the importance of Market and Competition Research; and, Mary Dridi, CFO of webMethods and recently recognized as the CFO Of The Year, who will describe how she built the Infrastructure to Support Growth.

When: July 11, 2002
7:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m.
